Use the GRASPS framework to plan the performance assessment. Remember, you are designing a document that you
can print and hand out to the student, explaining the goal of the performance assessment, the student's role, the audience,
the simulated situation, the product they should produce, and the standards by which you and the "audience" will evaluate the
product. These standards are "internal" to the performance assessment; they are not the rubric you will use to evaluate the
Goal: What is the goal of the performance?
Role: What role does the student assume in the performance?
Audience: What audience does the student address?
Situation: What is the situation for the performance?
Product: What should be produced?
Standards: What are the standards for the product? (This is not a
rubric; the standards are set within the context of the situation and the role.)
